Recognizing Excellence in the Field of Counseling LGBTQIAPG+ Individuals
Our awards recognize leaders in mentorship, research, service, and social justice. The call for nominations begins in the fall. Annual awards are given at the ALGBTIC reception at the annual ACA conference in the spring. Biennual awards are given every other year at the ALGBTIC Conference.
- ALGBTIC Counseling Program Award
This award is presented biennially to a counseling program that has demonstrated a commitment to the promotion of LGBTQIAPG+ awareness and affirmation.
- ALGBTIC Emerging Leader Award
The annual ALGBTIC Emerging Leaders (EL) Program was developed to allow student and new professional leaders to participate in ALGBTIC activities, receive mentorship, and connect with professional networking opportunities.
- ALGBTIC Graduate Student Award
This annual award has been established to honor a graduate student member of ALGBTIC who has contributed significantly in one of three areas: 1) Representing or embodying the mission of ALGBTIC through direct service for ALGBTIC or in the field of counseling, 2) Furthering knowledge of LGBTQIAPG+ issues through an outstanding research contribution. 3) Providing service or research that specifically focuses on furthering the knowledge of and commitment to issues of diversity within the LGBTQI+ community.
- ALGBTIC Mentor Award
This annual award is presented to an individual identified as making a significant contribution to mentorship in the ALGBTIC community and persons with the LGBTQIAPG+ community.
- ALGBTIC Research Grant
The purpose of this annual grant is to fund research that supports the mission of the Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues in Counseling.
- Outstanding Article of the Year
This annual award is presented for an article identified as exceptional in relation to LGBTQIAPG+ issues.
- ALGBTIC Joe Norton Award
This annual award is presented annually for an outstanding contribution to the LGBTQIAPG+ community in the city or region in which the ACA conference is held.
- ALGBTIC Legal Award
This award is presented biennially to an ALGBTIC member, or an organization, that has demonstrated a commitment to the LGBTQIAPG+ community’s legal rights and equality.
- ALGBTIC Ned Farley Service Award
This annual award is presented to an ALGBTIC member who has served ALGBTIC and/or the larger LGBTQIAPG+ community through forwarding the mission and values of ALGBTIC.
- ALGBTIC Presidential Service Award
This annual award is presented to an individual, identified by the ALGBTIC President, for outstanding service.
- ALGBTIC Public Health Award
This award is presented biennially to an ALGBTIC member who has demonstrated excellence in LGBTQIAPG+ community public health services, outreach, and/or research.
- ALGBTIC Anneliese Singh Queer and Trans People of Color Award
This award is presented biennially to an ALGBTIC member who champions for queer and trans people of color.
- ALGBTIC Mark Pope Social Justice and Advocacy Award
This award is presented biennially to an ALGBTIC member who demonstrates a profound commitment to inclusion and equity for the LGBTQI+ community through social justice and advocacy efforts.
